From across the pond, my blogging friend, Ian, has pointed to the "the most idiot proof way yet" of downloading Youtube videos. He instructs to "click here, type in the URL of the Youtube vid’ and select mpg as the file type to convert to. When it’s finished, click ‘save to file’ and it will be on your desktop."

Will this keep the YouTube video from showing the most relevant, yet often inappropriate, links to other videos from appearing at the end?

Also liked vixy.net…any differences between the 2?

Maureen: yep, it does- – - you just get the video not the “tags” at the end.
Mike: I am a fan of the vixy.net as well. Every now and then, the downloads from that don’t “succeed” or the “server can’t link”. In my three-four attempts with mediaconverter, I have not experienced such glitches.

Thank you! That helps me a lot since I upload YouTubes. I moderate a teen blog and upload YouTubes quite regularly. The links to other videos has always been a concern. God bless your work here!

Download – - When you take the youtube and save it reformated onto your desktop to share in a powerpoint or on a screen in a place not served by wireless. When you do that, you don’t see the tags.
Upload- When we “embed” a youtube onto a blog… YouTube serves itself in this manner by “showing the most relevant, yet often inappropriate, links … at the end.” Sorry, it is the n ature of that service.
