This is something that I’ve been thinking about for a few months. Recent events in my office have me thinking about it all the more. On top of that, my web-friend Marko closed down his blog because of how time consuming it can be as well as seeking more integrity between virtual persona and real person. While not ready to go there (yet!), I truly emphathize.
Since re-formatting this blog into WordPress last September, I have had the capability to add other voices to the blog beyond my own. Is there an advantage to adding additional authors to this blog? Or does it read better utilizing only one voice?
Adding more voices could expand the ecclesial diversity of this site. I could just share authorship with my office-mates. Would you be interested in hearing from the West Coast or mid-west as well as from me in ArchBalt? How about a Canadian? An Aussie or Kiwi? Do we need a parish voice to complement my perspective from a diocese? Or does that all become a little too much noise from too many multiple voices? (LifeTeen has over thirty blog authors.)
If there is change a’coming, it will be months in the making… But, my immediate question remains: Should we add other voices to the blog? What would be the advantages or disadvantages to you as a reader? From where should these voices come – both regarding geography as well as the landscape of the church
Comment up, folks. I’d appreciate your opinions.
More voices would be awesome providing they share the vision of your blog. You should “hire”!

Truly emphasize? I emphasize the fact that I empathize with that misnomer!

I’d suggest maybe one voice from each section of the country – probably no more than five or six more. Some diversity is good, though too many can make things unworkable. Plus, it’d be good for youth ministers to see what others are doing that’s working. Maybe suggest to all the readers that they funnel any stories through these contacts.

Thanks. John. I empathize with the need for a good editor as well. You’re hired!

I think that by adding more “voices” to the blog, you’ll find a more rounded opinion and it would just be a new experience for those of us who don’t tend to read other people blogs. *cough*cough* I also think that the voices should come from everywhere and anywhere. Maybe also, for next summers “road trip”, you could have voices from different people in those states? Kind of like the Podcasts, but in writing? I don’t know… =)
