If you have not seen Pixar’s UP just yet, get yourself off to the theater before you find yourself watching it on a smaller screen and a lesser sound system. The story is told through the main characters of Carl Fredricksen, a senior citizen who feels as if he missed the adventures in his life, and Russell, the Wilderness Explorer obsessed with claiming the final notch of accomplishing all his merit badge projects.
But, the winner of the best supporting animated character goes to Dug, the talking dog. While the primary characters are missing parts of their experiences because of their single-minded focuses, Dug is attention impaired by the distractions around him, especially when it comes to squirrels.
I create lists to keep a focus. And I celebrate each accomplishment as I cross them off. There was always be “squirrels” out there, but if we find ourselves responding to all of them, why it’ll be like killing cockroaches. t’s easier to keep focused when you opt not to be in the center of all activity and to swing at every pitch that comes your way.
Keep focused on what’s important… Christ, your family, the Church, the volunteers, the Word, the kids
