Heartbroken

caffeineAnd then the question, “What are you discussing as you walk along?” They stopped, looking downcast.

I had a dream the other night, actually a nightmare.  It reminded me of a relationship lost and I was heartbroken all over again.  Really, years and years later and heartbroken all over again.

heartbrokenThe disciples were right there as well. Days after everything – palms, Passover, persecution, and punishment – they can’t take it anymore and escape the pain by taking to the road to Emmaus.

The human condition is full of hurts.  The Jesus who is not recognized still is willing to be present to those hurts, to listen.

Our role in faith formation is to do the same. Recognize that others hurt as well. Be Present. Ask. Be willing to listen.
