caffeine Where to begin, then, in our understanding of disciplemaking? The General Directory of Catechesis clearly places disciplemaking within the process of evangelization and catechesis.  When I discuss these, my fingers will automatically cross to reflect the entwined relationship between the two.

The General Directory for Catechesis understands evangelization as that which transmits the Revelation of God’s involvement and interaction within the world. This is accomplished though testimony and proclamation, word and Sacrament, teaching and task. Catechesis is that which proclaims and narrates God’s revelation bringing whatever clarity fingers-crossedwe might to the mystery of God. Evangelization calls attention to the signs and wonders of God. Catechesis works towards interpreting those very same signs and wonders.

Evangelization is everything that surrounds the excitement of the celebration of World Youth Days. Catechesis occurs in those moments when the Pope, Bishops, and youth leaders are speaking directly to young people about God and the Church’s love and hopes for them.

Evangelization, catechesis – -  fingers crossed.  One presumes the other, One necessitates  the other.
