caffeine Disciplemaking, of course, is done within relationship. This is a relationship between the believer and the recipient of evangelization. This is a relationship between the believer and the catechized. The process of evangelization and catechesis are uniquely and intimately woven within relationship.

Evangelization is all the work of engaging and maintaining a relationship between the Church and those who are or would be believers. It is the process of informing about the Good News. Catechesis, however, is to occur when we are engage in that relationship. It is the process of forming followers and encouraging them to conform their lives in faith.

Gary Smalley is an author that often places his understanding of relationship building within the context of Five Love Languages. He teaches that people can improve heartsandtheir relationships with one another if they understand how to affirm, spend time together, offer gifts and service to one another, and appropriately touch one another physically.

Evangelization and Catechesis are the love languages of disciplemaking. The language used in the General Directory of Catechesis to describe evangelization is the same language of relationships: arousing, nourish, impregnanting, and bearing. Evangelization is the love language of the romancing of the disciple while catechesis is the language between disciples that speaks of commitment. Uniquely enough, both the languages of evangelization and catechesis are intertwined not unlike dance partners in the formation of disciples.
