Dance then, wherever you may be
I am the Lord of the Dance, said He!
And I’ll lead you all, wherever you may be
And I’ll lead you all in the Dance, said He!
In Sydney Carter’s Lord of the Dance we are encouraged to dance wherever we may be. The dance is a great metaphor for evangelization and catechesis.
It is essential to understand that the dance movement of romance within evangelization and catechesis is not a
regimented two step. Sometimes it is a slow rhythmic embrace while at other times it seems an out-of-control frenzied dance of passions. The dance is uniquely offered to each disciple, no matter if they are a rich young man, a young woman of limited means, pope, or reader of blog postings on adolescent faith formation.
In the next week or so, we will be examining the metaphor of the dance of evangelization and catechesis.
The Spirit is spinning the music. Start where you will. Let’s dance.
