CHARLESTON, SC — Top 20 Blogger Alison Griswold recently wrote in her local newspaper about Honoring Our Bodies and Our World. It’s a great article and worth the read. She comments:
Yesterday I was listening to one of those internet radio accounts that links to your Facebook and reads your mind to deliver relevant advertising, and it kept spewing ads for contraception. I guess that since I’m a woman in my twenties — with great taste in music — they figured I needed birth control suggestions.
Accompanying the advertisement were the warnings and side effects. In addition to the typical nausea, cramping and irritability were a slew of unpronounceable issues. These are strong chemicals they’re promoting. Nice try, but I don’t even use Splenda. Read the whole Catholic Miscellany article.
TOLEDO, OH —An estimated 3,500 people attended the first Exclaim!Christian music festival Aug. 15 at the Msgr. Schmit CYO Athletic Complex. The daylong Christian music festival featured local musical groups Jacob’s Well and Universal Worship Experience and was headlined by Matt Maher. A large tent housed sponsors and other organizations that wished to share their message with attendees. Religious congregations, local Catholic media organizations, book stores and pro-life groups were also among those that had displays in the tent. See the Catholic Chronicle article and video

Thanks for the kind words about EXCLAIM! 2010, Miller. I bet you didn’t know that a Holy Roller was a part of the Board of Directors who made EXCLAIM! come true, did you Scott.
It is true. (No, I did not play the vuvuzela for the closing liturgy. Some talents are best kept for other venues.)
A group of youth ministry workers and advocates had a dream and decided to create something that had never been done in our diocese. After a year of hard work and preparation, the dream has started. Not only were there great musicians like Matt Maher and his band, Jackie Francois and her band, Audrey Assad, Chris Bray, and the local musicians, Jacob’s Well Experience and Universal Worship Experience, but the even bigger success was how 3,500 – 4,000 people came together (whether they were Catholic or not) to celebrate all that is good about our Catholic faith and our larger community. We hear from some non-Catholics who attended that we have started to change the negative perceptions that our non-Catholic brothers and sisters have of our faith. Sweet! We also hear that two other dioceses want to follow in our footsteps and make something similar happen. Rock on! The ripple effect of the day has not stopped. Put July 31, 2011 on your calendars. It looks to be even bigger, better than this year. You can find out more info by going to our website, http://www.exclaimtoledo.org, and finding us on Facebook.
Thanks again for the plug… and kind words… even towards a Holy Roller.

It definitely was a great time. As a member of The Jacob’s Well Experience, I can say that it definitely was awesome to be a part of everything.
