Two Minutes 06-28-12

clip_image002What’s Going On Here?

We have spent the last few weeks attempting to organize our efforts at communicating with our parish youth contacts and high school campus ministers. You already receive our long-form

newsletter every three weeks on Thursday. (Next edition will be July 12, you always can check our archives for past versions)

What is starting up here is a shorter version for the off-week. We will limit this version to 400-500 words because it is reported that that most readers can check that in less then two minutes. We hope to us this for updates, consultation, and general resources.

We have already burned over 100 words, so let’s get going…

Young Adults

> There will be a Celebration for Georgina Vaca at Scott’s place in Catonsville at 7pm on July 12. If you want in on this, please just e-mail Scott for directions. Meanwhile, we have been receiving applications for the position.
> A young adult newsletter went out today with information about upcoming events- including an encuentro, a retreat, and World Youth Day.

Young Church On the Move

This week finds St. John, Severna Park; St. Joseph, Odenton; and St. Joseph, Sykesville all at workcamp in China Grove, NC. Out for the Baltimore/ Appalachia project are St. Francis Xavier, Hunt Vally, St. Joseph, Cockeysville; St. Pius X and St. Bernadette while St. Mary, Pylesville, is at Catholic Heart Workcamp in Magnolia DE. Many are out at the Life Teen Leadership Conference in Kansas. St. Timothy, Walkersville is heading for the Bellarmine Retreat Center and Sacred Heart, Glyndon is off to Franciscan University of Steubenville. Please keep all our workcampers and conference goers in your prayers!

Office Closed

Throughout the summer, we are closed on Fridays. This is a move towards energy savings. We are working long days Monday to Thursday and working out of the office Fridays. However, we will be closed July 4-6.

> There is a great project going on featuring many familiar faces discussing the upcoming readings for the weekend. Check out Any Given Sunday.
> Catechetical Sunday is coming up September 16. The theme is "Catechists and Teachers as Agents of the New Evangelization" The USCCB has provided many good resources.
> Finally, here a beach-y video reminder for you as you recruit your core team to attend the Youth Contact meetings in September.
