John Bosco Meeting Thanks to all those who participated in last Thursday’s John Bosco. We appreciated all the efforts of our co-sponsor, the Association of Professional Youth Ministers, in making this event so good. Please reserve Thursday, January 30, 2014 (avoiding the actual Feast Day on the next Friday) for next year’s Bosco Day.
Also, here are some follow-up announcements from the meeting:
> World Youth Day domestic. If you missed Bosco Day, you missed the distribution and discussion of this summer’s World Youth Day domestic gathering at Mount Saint Mary. (A note of clarification from that meeting… Sleeping arrangements WILL be separated by gender during the overnight!)
> Mid-Atlantic Congress The national training coming to our backyard is soon upon us. Many, many workshop are related to parish leadership and we as youth ministers must see ourselves counted among that number. Registration and Information here. There is also discounted parking available downtown.
> Annual Recognition Celebration. We discussed much about advocacy for what we do. Advocate for the ministry while acknowledging your outstanding young people, volunteers, and partners in ministry at the Annual Recognition Celebration/ Eagle of the Cross.
> Celebrate Me Home Spiritual Homelessness is becoming an epidemic in today’s culture. For us to confront it, the Church must change her paradigms about how we best minister with young people. Taking another look at the Parable of the Lost Son, we can gain insights about what (or who) is needed to help the next generation discover a sense of home in their Church. Go here for downloadable versions of the printed vision statement draft that we distribute last week
