The Baltimore Orioles have just been awful over this summer. I mean, really, check out who they are ringing in as a relief pitcher!
Meanwhile, Ravens training camp opened earlier this week. Everything is fresh and new. And, if you don’t think that there are spiritual / religious implications then…

Meanwhile, in honor of the present Super Bowl champs, you should play a round of trivia game that asks you to discern between a legitimate Catholic Saint and a New Orleans Saint.
You know, if there is such a thing food, then there must be a thing like comfort music. I recently had a two days of long drives and was comforted by 1970’s tunes from Chicago, Three Dog Night, and others…
Nonetheless, if I was making a mix tape of great tunes (something that daughter Meghan excels at) I would include this violin concert of a classic tune.
Pretty sure that I posted this up quite a long while ago… but funny is still funny.
Just goes to show you that there those who resisted “new technologies” from way back.
You know, it is always nice to be reminded of having a sense of purpose.
Turns out, it sometimes even pays off. For instance, joining the ranks of Cecil B. DeMille’s "The Ten Commandments," "Jesus of Nazareth" from Franco Zeffirelli," Mel Gibson’s "The Passion of The Christ," and Victor Flemming’s "Joan of Arc" is…
John Landis’ cult classic "The Blues Brothers!"
On the 30th anniversary of the film’s release, "L’Osservatore Romano," the Vatican’s official newspaper, called the film a "Catholic classic" and said it should be recommended viewing for Catholics everywhere.
So, go watch it!

Here is a tutorial on the all important High Five.
Enjoy and learn!
(Oh, and I have not fully investigated this, but I am reasonably confident that the “around the back, through the legs, palm spit, piggy-backer” variation on the high-five is in violation of most child protection standards.)

If you have not figured this out about me just yet, let me tell ‘ya: I love a good visual – for a blog post, for a power point… whatever. It’s important.
Therefore, I’m a fan of the creativity that goes into the daily t-shirt sale site: shirt.woot.com…. Enough to have made two purchases in the past year for my college age daughter. She suggests that the theme to my selections is that “childhood is now dead,” but I like to think it was more about reconsidering childhood’s pop icons. (As always, click on the picture for a larger image.)
A moment for the summer.
Surf dudes with attitudes. Feeling groovy. Laid back moves. Sky above, sand below. Good vibrations. Feeling mellow.
Won’t give it up. Don’t want to start.
Don’t wake me up Don’t wake me up if I’m dreaming. Califormia dreams, Please let me lay here in the sun until the dreams are done.
Just tripped across this the other day and knew that I had to post this up.
Not unlike “Save by the Bell,” California Dreams was one of those Saturday morning shows that was not insufferable viewing while making the kids pancakes on a weekend mid-morning.
And Jimmy Fallon is right, it was one of the under-rated cool tv theme songs of its generation. Enjoy!
You know, accuracy turns out to be rather important in presenting the Christian message. (h/t to Oddwalk.)
