“In times past though not long ago, there lived pigs–in stature, little; in number, three– who being of an age, both entitled and inspired to seek their fortune, did set about to do thusly.”
It’s a pretty funny take on a potential Shakespeare version of the Three Pigs.
Now, that being said, this video also a brutal commentary about the limitations of American (and/or) Modern English.
Our language limitations can only fuel a sense of ignorant arrogance. “American Made” is a weak explanation for the strength of one design over the other.
Funny, aside, we always need to improve how we go about explaining our lives, our faith, our story. “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope” (1 Peter 3:15)
Meanwhile, watch for the mighty maelstrom of the wolf’s exhale as it splatters the second swine’s shack and shortens his sanctimonious scoldings simultaneously!
On this weekend which celebrates the beloved anniversary of my hatching, I thought I would share with you about what the D in my name stands for…
It’s not Doctor (at least not yet) which sometimes gets confusing for folks who think there was a typo in the printing of my name.
But, when asked, I will often respond… Dancing-Machine, Dapper, Darling, Dashing, Decidedly, Debonair, Delightful, Dense, Derelict, Devastating, Discerning, Disheveled, Dressy, Droll, Dynamic, and … Disciple.
And then I will admit…

Gene and Brad are happy to help you and your kids prepare for the March for Life. Looking forward to seeing the guys in DC soon!
This is a favored annual Christmas re-post.
My Christmas favorites are slightly different, preferring Bing and Danny, Rosemary and Vera of White Christmas over Ralphie of A Christmas Story.
Therefore, it follows that my choice for a favorite Christmas television show is similarly obscure.
A Wish for Wings That Work brings the characters from Bloom County, Opus the Penguin and Bill the Cat into a Christmas tale of community (dysfunctional and odd though it may be) and redemption (strange as it might seem) to us.
I think this is one of the most beautifully illustrated cartoons, even if it is a story that involves hairballs and transvestite bugs.
This weekend, give yourself a happy 23 minute gift and view it all: Part Two, Part Three
Yes, we had one posted last weekend, but pulled it because… just because.
So, let’s try again. I have a co-worker that has a magnificent collection of nativity sets in a wide variety of art forms from a diverse set of artists. I have a few nativities as well… but this set is actually my prized part of my meager collection. It is displayed over the holiday season in the bathroom, where else?
Winner goes to blog chaplain, Father Austin with
“…and they were ducks with great fear…” – No, guys. It’s they were “struck” with great fear! Doesn’t anyone read the script anymore??
Last weekend, I became a supporter of the kickstarter campaign for Grilled Cheesus, an electronic sandwich press that toasts the face of Jesus onto your sandwich bread!
Glee fans are well aware that I’m bringing a little bit of that show’s sense of humor home.
Although this post is categorized in the Funsies section, this is not a prank. If this sort of thing catches your own sense of spiritual whimsy (is that not a generally accepted theological term?) as it dd mine, then I encourage you to check it out and sign on as a backer
(and, yes, Gene David Monterastelli, Mike Patin, and Alison Griswold – - I am talking to you.)
Reformation Day is celebrated this weekend in many churches. It celebrates Luther’s 95 theses, purportedly on the Wittenberg Door. Anyway, sometimes, when I look at the Reformation and what it wrought, I think to this… and it is just us true for us Catholic types!
I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. I immediately ran over and said “Stop! Don’t do it!”
“Why shouldn’t I?” he said.
I said, “Well, there’s so much to live for!”
“Like what?”
“Well…are you religious or atheist?”
“Religious.”
“Me too! Are you Christian or Jewish?”
“Christian.”
“Me too! Are you Catholic or Protestant?”
“Protestant.”
“Me too! Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?”
“Baptist.”
“Wow! Me too! Are you Baptist Church of God or Baptist Church of the Lord?”
“Baptist Church of God.”
“Me too! Are you Original Baptist Church of God, or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?”
“Reformed Baptist Church of God.”
“Me too! Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1879, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915?”
“Reformed Baptist Church of God, reformation of 1915!”
To which I said, “Die, heretic scum!” and pushed him off.
